Use Your AI Agent to Follow Up on Customer Messages
A practical workflow for reading customer questions, preparing useful replies, and qualifying leads with your agent through Replaid.

A message such as “Can you help with my website?” is a starting point. To move the conversation forward, someone needs to understand the request, ask for missing details, and decide what should happen next.
Replaid lets your AI agent help with those steps. It connects supported customer channels to your agent and applies your action policies. Your agent supplies the reasoning, business knowledge, and reply instructions.
This guide reflects Replaid’s move to connecting your own agent. It does not assume that Replaid runs an AI assistant for you.
Give the agent a clear definition of a lead
Before asking an agent to qualify a conversation, tell it what makes an enquiry relevant to your business. Useful inputs include the services you offer, the area you serve, and the information you need before the next step.
Keep those criteria separate from assumptions. A short message is not evidence of a low budget. A missing detail is a reason to ask a question, not a reason to invent an answer.
You provide these instructions and reference information to your agent. Replaid gives it access to the conversation.
Read the context before drafting
Ask the agent to read the full available conversation before proposing a response. The latest message alone may not show what the customer has already explained or what you have already promised.
For a first test, use a narrow instruction:
Read my latest unanswered conversation in Replaid. Summarize what the customer needs and identify any missing information. Use only the business information I have given you. Save a draft reply with one useful next question. Do not send it.
This gives you a reply to review without allowing an outbound message.
Make the next question useful
Consider this illustrative example. A customer asks whether you can build a booking website. Your business offers that service, but you still need to know whether the customer wants to accept payments online.
A useful draft confirms that the request fits and asks about payments. It should not promise a price, delivery date, or feature that your agent cannot verify from its instructions.
Review both the draft and the agent’s reasoning. If the response is vague, improve the information you gave the agent before increasing its permissions.
Record the decision and choose the next step
Where permitted, an agent can request Replaid actions to tag the contact or conversation and record a lead qualification decision with its reason. That decision comes from your agent and your criteria; it is not a guaranteed prediction of a sale.
For a sensitive case, the agent can request an escalation. Escalation marks the conversation for human attention and pauses automated replies in Replaid. Someone still needs to review and handle the case.
If a draft is ready, permit sending only when you are comfortable with the workflow. Channel restrictions and conversation state can still prevent an action, so have the agent check the result instead of assuming that a request succeeded.
Measure the work before expanding it
Start with a small set of conversations. Check whether the agent found the relevant context, asked the right question, and avoided unsupported promises. Track how often you edit a draft before sending it.
You can later compare response time and useful next steps with your previous process. Do not treat a faster draft as proof of a higher conversion rate.
Connecting through MCP does not start automatic follow-up. If you want the agent to run when messages arrive, an external schedule or webhook receiver must start it. That setup is separate from the permissions you give it in Replaid.
If you want help with that first workflow, read about the optional paid setup service and its scope before deciding what to build yourself.
